How Leaves Are Like Friends – Creative Tuesdays

How Leaves Are Like Friends – Creative Tuesdays

Creative Tuesdays prompt was to create art that tied in with the words “Under the Leaves”. As I couldn’t wrap my head around the concept of “Under the Leaves”, I chose just the word “Leaves”.

Leaves need sunlight to grow in order to feed plants. And leaves are like my friends who “feed” or “encourage” me.

That idea blossomed into the designs shown below:

So today, I’d like to plant seeds of love by encouraging Janis Cox, author and illustrator of Tadeo Turtle, to keep writing and creating wonderful works of art. Janis Cox invited me to join Creative Tuesdays. You can purchase Tadeo Turtle from www.amazon.com and/or www.amazon.ca.

And … if it wasn’t for Michael, who planted Creative Tuesdays, my portfolio wouldn’t continue to grow. You can also purchase Michael’s amazing art over at Dotty Hill Creative’s Online Shop.

Creative Tuesdays also planted a seed to open up a digital shop so you too can create gifts to share with family and friends.

My shop will offer digital stamps perfect for scrapbooking, note cards, bookmarks, journal covers, prints, and coloring pages for the kiddies, and other blossoming ideas.

The printable notecards (shown below) will be available for sale in my shop (coming soon).

And to make sure my note card idea worked, I printed the note cards on a sheet of cardstock (available at your local office supply store). After cutting the cardstock in half, I just had to fold each card. And viola! My handmade note cards are ready to give away to friends and family who need encouragement.

While you wait for these designs (and more) to appear in my shop, please download a FREE coloring page.

Happy Planting,

3 Practical Ways to Show Love

3 Practical Ways to Show Love
Love Somebunny

Love Somebunny

Tomorrow is love day. A fun day to show some fluffy love.

I’m not a big fan of Valentine’s Day, but I’m not turning down my hubby’s dinner invitation.

I don’t like receiving flowers unless my hubby finds a bargain. And we all know that does not happen on Valentine’s Day.

But for me, love is an action. Servant-heart-action. A few ways I act out, I mean, show my servant-heart-love is to:

  • Wash and fold my hubby’s clothes,
  • Make my hubby’s lunches for work, and
  • Make my hubby’s dinner.

That may not sound like servant-heart-love to you, but let me tell you that I AM showing servant-heart-love because I DO NOT like to cook.

My mom once presented me with a plaque that read, “The kitchen is closed. The queen does not cook”.

But in all seriousness, love in action is the most powerful kind of love I can show. And the quote below sums up love beautifully.

“To love another person is to see the face of God.”
― Victor HugoLes Misérables

So I really hope my hubby sees the face of God in me, knowing I try my best to show my servant-heart-love in action.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

P.S. Share the love with another of my whimsical works of work called, “Love Somebunny”. It’s up for sale over at www.tracy-campbell.artistwebsites.com.

P.P.S. What does love mean to you?

The Way of Love

The Way of Love

It’s easy to tell someone I love them, but do I always show love? Not as often as I should. Yikes!

I’m reminded of a phone call I received. The stranger at the other end had a tiny voice. I strained to listen. I grew agitated because I had to keep saying, “pardon me.”  I’m sure she heard the edge in my voice.

After I hung up I realized maybe I didn’t hear her because I’m losing my hearing (I hope not). I didn’t show love that day, instead I let “self” run the show.

I’ve Made Only One New Year’s Resolution!

I’ve Made Only One New Year’s Resolution!

The countdown is on. And with only three days left in 2013, I’m ending on a high note. This morning, my painting below was featured on Kathy Temean’s inspiring writing and illustrating blog (along with forty-two, super-talented illustrators). Thank you, Kathy!

Joy, Love, Peace - Tracy Campbell - Kathy Temean - December Illustration

I’m also looking forward to ringing in 2014. It’ll be a new year, and a new beginning.

And I’ve made only one resolution for 2014.

“Put God in charge of all of (my) work (dreams), then what (I’ve) planned will take place.”

Proverbs 16:3. (The Message)

That doesn’t mean I get to sit back and wait for my dreams to miraculously appear. Nope, I still have to work hard. But I’ll also work smarter which means cutting back on social media so I can spend more time doing what I love most–illustrating and writing.

May 2014 be filled with joy, love, and peace.

Happy New Year from Matilda, Indy, and ME!

Have you made any resolutions for 2014? If so, what are they?
