How Leaves Are Like Friends – Creative Tuesdays

How Leaves Are Like Friends – Creative Tuesdays

Creative Tuesdays prompt was to create art that tied in with the words “Under the Leaves”. As I couldn’t wrap my head around the concept of “Under the Leaves”, I chose just the word “Leaves”.

Leaves need sunlight to grow in order to feed plants. And leaves are like my friends who “feed” or “encourage” me.

That idea blossomed into the designs shown below:

So today, I’d like to plant seeds of love by encouraging Janis Cox, author and illustrator of Tadeo Turtle, to keep writing and creating wonderful works of art. Janis Cox invited me to join Creative Tuesdays. You can purchase Tadeo Turtle from and/or

And … if it wasn’t for Michael, who planted Creative Tuesdays, my portfolio wouldn’t continue to grow. You can also purchase Michael’s amazing art over at Dotty Hill Creative’s Online Shop.

Creative Tuesdays also planted a seed to open up a digital shop so you too can create gifts to share with family and friends.

My shop will offer digital stamps perfect for scrapbooking, note cards, bookmarks, journal covers, prints, and coloring pages for the kiddies, and other blossoming ideas.

The printable notecards (shown below) will be available for sale in my shop (coming soon).

And to make sure my note card idea worked, I printed the note cards on a sheet of cardstock (available at your local office supply store). After cutting the cardstock in half, I just had to fold each card. And viola! My handmade note cards are ready to give away to friends and family who need encouragement.

While you wait for these designs (and more) to appear in my shop, please download a FREE coloring page.

Happy Planting,

  1. Tracy,
Wonderful design! I couldn’t be happier for you! Great ideas sprang forth because you accepted this creative challenge! I look forward to seeing this digital stamp design in your shop soon, as well as others that are sure to follow.

  2. I enjoy so much looking at all creativity. It is so inspiring and enjoy it. Keep up the good work.

  3. Oh Tracy,
Thanks so much for the shout out. I needed that. Art can be so – wonderful but scary. I don’t mind putting myself out there with my writing but my art?
Tadeo the first time I really allowed myself to let my art be seen. Now I have 5 watercolour pictures for the art show in Arizona here at our community.
I think it is wonderful how God is inspiring each of us through encouragement. I love these cards.
You have an amazing talent but I also know God is working through you with your gift.

    • We all need encouragement, Janis. I’m so happy to give you a big shout out. It is scary putting ourselves out here in cyberspace. Please keep me informed about your art show in Arizona. And oh yes, so glad God is inspiring each of participating in Creative Tuesdays. 🙂

  4. Hey, that’s fab you are opening up a shop too and I’m so glad I could help inspire that along the way in any way that I did. Thank you.

I”m going to say that the Heart is the thing under the leaves then as you can;t get off that easy and just do part of a theme’s title! LOL. It’s whimsical and delightful. Good inputs here too. Thank you so much, Tracy, and best wishes for your store!

    • Ah, Michael, I hadn’t even thought about the “heart” being the thing under the leaves. Yes, you’re right, I shouldn’t and can’t get off that easily. And I want to add that your artwork is awesome. Have you ever considered or have you submitted your portfolio to an art agent? If not, you should. Thank you for your kind words about my designs and I hope I’m not wasting my time trying to open up a digital shop. But I have to try. 🙂

    • Linda, thanks so much for your encouraging comments. Looking forward to seeing what you create for next time. You have so much talent. 🙂

  5. Super cool! Very inspirational, love the colors, and these work great as a notecard– they’d look really need as a cross stitch or embroidery pattern, too, to hang in a home. Wonderful job 🙂

    • Hi Donna, I had thought about creating a cross-stitch pattern, but I think for it to sell, potential customers would want to see a finished product. I love to cross-stitch, but the hours involved is more time than I have. Glad we were on the same page though. And thanks for your wonderful words of encouragement. 🙂

  6. Very cute cards, Tracy! You are so creative. Nice job. Thank you for the seeds of love you’ve planted in my life! I sure appreciate your encouragement and joyous perspective.
