Love is in the air.

Can you feel it?

Okay, so love doesn’t float through the air, but being loved makes me feel like I’m floating.

Before I float on into today’s theme for Creative Tuesdays, here’s a quiz that I tweaked slightly, based on The 5 Love Languages®, written by Gary Chapman.

Do you feel MOST loved when:

(a) someone goes out of their way to do something nice for you?
(b) someone takes the time to give you a gift they’ve put a lot of thought into?
(c) someone gives you their undivided attention?
(d) someone gives you a much-needed (bear) hug? or
(e) someone sends you a hand-written, greeting card?

If you had to choose just ONE, which would it be?

#My first choice would be (e)—I feel MOST loved when someone sends me a hand-written, greeting card.

I suppose that’s why I love creating and receiving greeting cards. 🙂

This love language is called, “Words of Affirmation”.

Gary Chapman states,

“This language uses words to affirm other people.”

My sister, a missionary in Tokyo, sent me a beautiful card with these words of affirmation:

“Praying for you, and may all your dreams come true in 2016! I can’t say thank you enough for supporting us in so many ways.”

My sister wrote more, but those two lines made me float on air. Thanks, Sis. 🙂

Have you figured out what today’s theme is?

Our host, Mr. Toast, actually provided three creative prompts for this theme:

  • love is in the air,
  • home is where the heart is, and
  • love will guide you home, (we also had to include a floating heart).

Mr. Toast promised this challenge would be fairly simple.

I thought it would be fairly simple too.

Not so.

My creative mind churned, of course, making my brain need or want to incorporate all of the above.

I did finish the illustration, but ran out of time to “color-it-up”. That’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it.

Speaking of love, Matilda, my bossy marketing maven, has an announcement. She promises to behave.

Hello, People!

It’s me, Matilda.

I’ll try to be polite. Hee hee.

I’m unveiling Tracy’s new product line. And today, I’ll share just one piece from our collection.

I do like to make you people wait.

Behave, Matilda!

Tracy, give me a drum roll. Puh-leeze!

Never mind.

Tracy’s trendy necklace comes beautifully packaged in a cellophane bag. Perfect for Valentine’s Day. It’s a steal-of-a-deal at only $8.00 U.S. And there are only three left.

AND . . .

when you’re shopping, check out the greeting card that I know you’ll want to give to your “Somebunny” this Valentine’s Day—that fuzzy, love day that makes you want to float on air.

I tried to behave.

Get back in your mason jar. I’ll take it from here.

I do hope you’ll stop by my Whimsical Shop and check out my our stuff!

Have a Happy Day,

Tracy & Matilda!

  1. Your coloring sheets/book designs are so fun! I hope they sell great! Now, you’re into jewelry too. Your art never ceases to amaze me. Congratulations. I’m looking forward to more reveals from Matilda. I’m trying to imagine what the rest of the line might include.

I’m not telling…that was Matilda’s comment whispered in my ear.

    • Linda, don’t tell me you’re in cahoots with Matilda?! 🙂 I’m excited about the coloring book I’m working on and I hope it will inspire others to be all that God wants us to be. Ah yes, and the jewelry line, an ongoing work in progress. Thanks, Linda. 🙂

  2. I love the coloring sheet as well! It’s an inspiration to me especially as I am trying my hand at some coloring page stuff. Yours is perfect and graphically done, amazing line work and I of course love the “Home Tweet Home” pun, hee. And Matilda is so cute 😀

    • Donna, your comments warm my heart. So encouraging…thank you very much. I want to encourage you too…keep plugging away at your coloring page ideas. I’ll be by shortly, my day ran away from me. 🙂

    • My sister is always faithful in mailing me letters and cards, Marylin. An art that many forget to do as it’s so easy to just respond on social media. Thank you for your faithful comments each time I post, Marylin. 🙂

  3. The Love Languages is a very good book. Have used it in several Bible Studies. I love to send and receive hand written cards. I guess that why I have done watercolor note cards for years.

You are very talented and creative and the beauty of Jesus shines through your blog.

    Blessings and hugs.

    • Wanda, thank you for commenting about The Love Languages book and so happy to hear you’ve used it in Bible studies. And ah, another gal after my heart (you love to send and receive hand-written cards too). Wonderful to hear you create watercolor note cards too, Wanda. And the best comment is that you see the beauty of Jesus shining through. Thank you! I’ll be by shortly. 🙂

  4. For me the feeling of love comes from the feeling behind any of those things. nice thing to consider.

your art is charming as can be.

    • Hi Tammie, thank you for sharing that the feeling of loves comes from the feeling behind all five love languages. I would agree with you too, although I do gravitate toward (e). Happy to hear my art is charming as can be. You made me smile. 🙂

  5. Tracy, your art is so inspiring and always brightens my day. I also love giving and receiving handwritten notes of encouragement. This post has reminded me to get back at it as it’s been too long since I’ve sealed a real letter.
    Blessings ~ Wendy

  6. Hi Wendy, yay, glad my post reminded you to get back to writing and that you’re going to seal a real letter, and that my art inspires and brightens your day. 🙂

  7. I’m a deeds person. Someone does something nice for me that they know I’ll like (Including presents!) and I feel loved. But also being loved for who I am. I guess that’s words of affirmation.

  8. my answer to the quiz would be (a) but the other answers are good too.

another nice take on the theme, I see it as singing about or for love or something. I actually wasn’t quite so sure about the theme but anything with love seems to be it.

hope you have a sweet day.

  9. Tracy, my answer would be B here but normally my love language is Quality time.

Well, I don’t know, I think you EXCELLED at this. It looks from this end at least that it all came together great. Funnily enough, the theme was actually only LOVE IS IN THE AIR (the orange type one in all caps) but I’m fine with any of those and this works for each too. You did a really awesome job with this one. I KNEW you would! I especially love how you did the hearts in the air with making them looks like the notes but also almost like cherries too. I love the dots in them too. Now, of course, I want to see it in colour!
Great job and great for CT’s theme this fortnight too. thank you for getting it done in time! 🙂

    • Michael, thank you for letting me know you chose (b). I’m certain Alexandra will have put a lot of thought into your birthday gift. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Ah, just Love is in the Air, my brain went into overdrive and I couldn’t help trying to incorporate more than just “Love is in the Air”. I spent way too much time trying to do that and alas with other responsibilities there was no more time to “color-it-up” I did start it, though.

And as always, I appreciate the effort you put forth for all us creative minds. Happy Birthday, Mr. Toast. 🙂

    • Diana, I’m intrigued. What sort of counselling do you do? And thank you for sharing that you identify with (a). I’m not surprised. I hope you have a lovely rest of the week. Drop in anytime. 🙂

  10. What a cute illustration, Tracy. I do hope you find the time to color it in and post it anyway. Your style reminds me a lot of Susan Branch. Have a great weekend. 🙂

  11. Well, it’s a tough decision trying to figure out which one makes me feel most loved. Maybe a warm embrace – it’s very comforting.

Although I’d say actions and time show love, and it’s always nice to have a kind word in a card.

Your artwork is so nice. Happy Valentine’s Day!

    • Sherry, thank you for taking the time to try and figure out which love language you relate to best. I found it hard to narrow down my love language as well. Like you, I lean heavily toward a card with a thoughtful note. And Happy Valentine’s Day too. 🙂
