HOW TO BLOSSOM LIKE A BUDDING FLOWER IN SPRING – CREATIVE TUESDAYS

HOW TO BLOSSOM LIKE A BUDDING FLOWER IN SPRING – CREATIVE TUESDAYS

My artistic/writer self-confidence plummeted last week. If I had to rate my level of self-confidence on a scale of 1 to 10, it would have been a minus 10.

For two days, I threw a pity party. Strange thing was, no one came to my party. The longer I party, the worse I’ll feel.

So after consulting my trusty manual, I asked God to toss down His golden cord of hope (I sure wasn’t getting anywhere in my own strength).

He didn’t let me down. As I clung to the golden cord of hope, the black cloud slowly lifted.

Then BAM!

Inspiration blossomed like a budding flower in spring, arriving just in time to design this piece for Creative Tuesdays.

 SINGLE FLOWER - BLOG POST - MAR. 17, 2015 (1)

“Strength! Courage! Don’t be afraid, don’t get discouraged.

God, your God, is with you every step of the way.” Joshua 1:9b (The Message)

The next time I’m tempted to throw a pity party, I’ll look up instead.

Happy Spring…almost,

How to Deal with Disappointment

How to Deal with Disappointment

Overall, I lead a great life. I have a roof over my head. I have a job. I have loving friends and family. And I’ve been blessed with creative abilities—but life does sometimes still disappoint.

Please join me over at Family and Faith Matters and read about “How to Deal with Disappointment.”

I’m sad to report that on December 31, 2014 the Family and Faith Matters blog will be closing up shop. So I’ve attached my original post here.

How to Deal with Disappointment

by Tracy Campbell – March 31, 2014

“We must accept finite disappointment,

but we must never lose infinite hope.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

If you’ve joined me from my blog, you already know that, overall, I lead a great life. I have a roof over my head. I have a job. I have loving friends and family. And I’ve been blessed with creative abilities—but life does sometimes still disappoint.

At the end of December, I made one resolution for 2014.

“Put God in charge of all of (my) work (dreams),

then what (I’ve) planned will take place.”

Proverbs 16:3 (The Message)

Well, I did that. But so far none of my creative dreams have taken place.

Why?

I believe it’s because I’m a control freak and God wants to teach me to let go and let Him lead.

Here’s what went down:

  • I came down with a doozer of a cold (my brain doesn’t function when that happens),
  • I strained a muscle on the right side of my back, causing tingling and numbness in my right hand (I do a lot of typing),
  • I had to deal with other family health issues, and then
  • Another nasty cold climbed on board.

The reason I shared my setbacks isn’t for you to say “Tracy, I’m sorry to hear that” or “Tracy, you need to suck it up ‘cuz I’ve got way bigger issues to deal with.”  Because, believe me, I get that others have way more to deal with than I do.

No, I’m sharing because, no matter how much planning I did or how hard I attempted to finish the piles of projects I’ve started, I have no control over life’s circumstances.

Am I disappointed?

You bet.

How did I handle my disappointment?

Well, I didn’t…

  • stomp my feet and pout (I was tempted),
  • throw my hands up and say, “I quit!” (I was tempted), or
  • let misery become my companion.

Instead, I’m learning to…

  • let go of my freakishly controlling ways (stop laughing),
  • live for today (let me rephrase that—live in the moment),
  • focus on the road ahead so I don’t dwell on what hasn’t happened,
  • keep a positive attitude,
  • share my struggles so you won’t give up your dreams, and
  • cling to my golden rope that keeps me connected to heaven (that’s where my infinite hope lies).

“The Lord guides our steps, and we never know where he will lead us.”

Proverbs 20:24 (ERV)

Do You Think Awards Are Important?

When I receive an award I perform a happy dance.

This past week I was awarded, not one, but three blog awards.

First, I was honored with the “Inspiring Blog Award” and the “One Lovely Blog Award” courtesy of Stephanie Nickels. She is an editor at Christian Editing Services. Thanks, Stephanie!
