The Way of Love

The Way of Love

It’s easy to tell someone I love them, but do I always show love? Not as often as I should. Yikes!

I’m reminded of a phone call I received. The stranger at the other end had a tiny voice. I strained to listen. I grew agitated because I had to keep saying, “pardon me.”  I’m sure she heard the edge in my voice.

After I hung up I realized maybe I didn’t hear her because I’m losing my hearing (I hope not). I didn’t show love that day, instead I let “self” run the show.

Since it’s Valentine’s Day, a day to show and tell family and friends I love them, I’m sharing one of my whimsical works of art, and words of love found in my trusty manual.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY - FEB. 14, 2014 (1)

The Way of Love

“If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.”

  1. Thanks for sharing that Valentine’s Day message. I firmly believe that some people are harder to love than others…it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t love them…I just means that we’ve been given the challenge to TRY HARDER. Yes all too often our comfort zone keeps us from reflecting God’s love. Again Thanks Tracy…hope you had a wonderful Valentines Day

  2. Very cute. Thank you for the honest reminder. I find myself becoming irritated most when I am tired, hungry or in pain.(Not to say I’m perfect all the rest of the time!)That means that in order to love others well, I also have to take care of myself and listen well to the Lord to lead me in taking care. Then I can care for others well too :)I appreciate the love you show me in your consistent encouraging comments and emails. Thank you.

    • I’m glad my comments are working too! It gets lonely out here alone. LOL
Thanks for letting me know these are your favorite bible verses too.
      I love your son’s lemonade stand story. He’s a real go-getter.
Reminds me of when I was a child and went door-to-door selling “Regal Gift” items.
