I missed the boat.
Creative Tuesdays’ boat sailed without me.
So I’m on my own this sunny, Thursday morning.
Creative Tuesdays’ prompt didn’t have anything to do with boats.
Instead, the challenge was to draw striped socks. I had every intention of drawing striped socks. But as my pencil pressed down on paper I felt inspired to draw, not socks, but a quilt of stripes with a cross.
I cried. I wept. I sobbed. Not because I was sad. Quite the opposite.
I was overwhelmed by Jesus’ sacrificial love for me. I tear up thinking about the nails driven into his hands and feet and about the blood He shed when He willingly carried my sins on an old rugged cross.
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5, AMP).
“He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24 AMP).
I smiled. I was healed. I am calm.
P.S. If you would like to color this exclusive design, Sacrificial Stripes, just MESSAGE ME. And I’ll happily email you your very own high-resolution, printable coloring page. This inspiring design is not included in my upcoming book, Calm Coloring: Faith, Hope & Love (Art & Soul Therapy for Kids-At-Heart).
